Joey Votto seems to be on track for the Hall of Fame...but not sure any other current Cincinnati Reds could join him. Jeff breaks down why and also looks at some mock trades and what the returns could be for some key players.
He has the resume and the numbers, as well as his tenure at the top of the first base mountain, but are there any other current Cincinnati Reds who could join Joey Votto in Cooperstown? The qualifications for a Hall of Famer aren't expressly outlined, but we can look at some average numbers and see where a player could make it to the Hall of Fame. The problem is, there doesn't seem to be any other Reds that meet those qualifications, currently, though there are some promising rookies like Jonathan India and Tyler Stephenson.
Then there's Mock Trade Monday, the new segment where Jeff will field your trade ideas on every Monday episode. Luis Castillo, Tyler Mahle, and Sonny Gray have all been rumored to be in discussion by Nick Krall, and they are featured prominently in this first round of mock trades, but there's one name that is included that hasn't been rumored: Jesse Winker. We look at the trades, the returns, and the plausibility and then give each mock trade a mock grade.
And one final thought to close out the pod has to do with what damage MLB is doing to its own reputation, regardless of a delayed season.
