Description

Taking a break from out Understanding the Standard mini series to discuss an article we ran across about the City of Houston and their Management of Solid Waste.  Seems many tons of recycling wound up in the regular garbage landfill.  This discovery was made after a new story broke with KHOU 11, promoting an Internal Audit, and findings in regards to the issue especially since an official memo was already put out months earlier in regards to this issue.
"HOUSTON — The City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department has launched an investigation after KHOU 11 Investigates captured video of a garbage truck driver not recycling recyclables in an entire west Houston neighborhood." - KHOU 11
The fact is the people of Houston were often times dutifully separating their garbage from recycling hoping to do their part for the environment, just to find out it was all for naught.
We are looking at issues with interested parties, internal & external issues, lack of documented processes and failure to take corrective actions to prevent the re-occurrence of an issue.  Proof positive it doesn't matter the size or scale of your organization, Quality Matters folks!
