Description

The LuchaWorld Podcast is back and we return with one of our favorite guest, L.A. lucha legend Superboy! He's back to share more stories from his career and to just talk about lucha libre. We open the show talking about Alberto Del Rio showing up at Triplemania after his WWE release. We discuss Del Rio's WWE departure and its possible negative effects for them as a business with their Latino fanbase. What goals luchadores have? The buzz Superboy's heard from the local wrestlers on AAA USA. The lack of opportunities for US-based Latin wrestlers on US-based indie promotions. Superboy reveals the "Misterioso" name situation and talks about older luchadores selling their gimmick/name. Superboy's fight with the late Abismo Negro. Superboy talks a bit about meeting Konnan early in his career as they both started at about the same time. More on the WIN tapings w/ the Guerreros, Konnan, Crazy 33 & Tim Tall Tree. Superboy talks about being at the WCW "Festival de Lucha" tapings from Waco, Texas and how he got the booking. From wrestling a few matches to refereeing several others during the tapings. Talks a bit about Blitzkrieg, the WCW luchadores, the WCW lockerroom and WCW wrestlers asking Piloto Suicida "Who the chubby guy is" at the WCW tapings and being impressed with Superboy after his match. Superboy also discusses how he got the WCW Nitro tryout match. Superboy talks about one of his early trainers Avispon Negro and talks about the steps he took in training, his first plancha to the outside, fundamentals that younger luchadores should learn, training with heavier wrestlers like the Black Panthers (two African-American brothers who loved Blue Panther, got into lucha and both were named Daryl!!!). Kurt and Superboy reminisce about L.A. wrestler The Whip/Cool Cat Clarke, Gil's Gym, booking veterans, and a few more LA stories. Superboy is currently promoting lucha shows in the LA Area under the Fusion Pro Wrestling banner and he co-host a lucha libre radio show called Los Gladiadores Radio! Fun show that went over 90 minutes! Enjoy! (8/18/14)
