Many seafarers make significant sacrifices to gain the qualifications and experience needed to work in an offshore environment. However, there's evidence that these workers may be particularly prone to emotional exhaustion and burnout, which can take a toll on mental health. Seafarers tend to work as part of small crews. Most work long hours and have contracts that require them to be at sea for up to twelve months at a time. This can often lead them to suffer from loneliness, isolation, and in some cases, depression.
