She has led expeditions into the jungles and rain forests of the Amazon, Madagascar, Papua New Guinea and the Republic of the Congo seeking out native healers and the natural medicines they use. Amy works to document and preserve these indigenous healing methods in the hope that one day they may be successfully used in Western medicine.
