Description

In this episode, photographer Stepha Doyle bravely shares her story about what it was like to grow up with a parent with a mental illness.Stepha’s mum, Coleen, was diagnosed with bipolar when Stepha was in her teens. After being hospitalised several times, she tragically took her own life, when Stepha was only 17 years old.We discuss how she navigated a difficult dynamic, often feeling like a parent to her mother rather than a child, how she coped with her mum’s unpredictable behaviour, and how after her passing she found strength to keep going.Through such tragedy, Stepha has discovered acceptance through self-expression and has created a life for herself that she loves, despite dealing with such tragedy early in life.Prepare to be inspired by this courageous, wonderful and sparkly woman. Come say hello to us on Instagram @goodmourningpodcast.www.goodmourning.com.auLinksLifeline 24/7: 13 11 14, www.lifeline.org.auSuicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467, www.suicidecallbackservice.org.auConnect with Stepha on Instagram @stepha_doyle Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022.
