Description
The title is woefully inadequate for the task at hand - but we had to call it something, and it's hard to spell a wordless scream. Anti-racism is not something to parcel into a pod-sized package and not think about again, and it's in that spirit that host Nakul Pande and Machel St Patrick Hewitt take to the mics.
Nakul and Machel share their personal experiences of being cricket fans of colour, discuss the international resonance of the uprising against a living legacy of state-sanctioned racist violence in America, and ask questions of experts in the policy and representational aspects of anti-racism work in cricket:
ANUJAYA KRISHNA: A scholar and practitioner of sports law who talks to us about her critical analysis of the ICC's Anti-Racism Policy and Conciliation Process: what it does and doesn't address, and how it's implemented.
GULFRAZ RIAZ: Chair of the National Asian Cricket Council, who advise the ECB on South Asian inclusion and representation, and founder of the African Caribbean Cricket Association.
We also read an excerpt of a powerful call to international consciousness from cricket administrator, scholar & activist Professor Hilary Beckles.
We #SayTheirNames. We remember. And we believe #BlackLivesMatter.
Produced and edited by Jon Stone.
