Description
Do you use videos in your speech therapy sessions? A couple of weeks ago, I shared all about why I think you should be using nonfiction in your speech therapy sessions. I know it is easy to reach for those favorite fiction resources, but studies show that using nonfiction is extremely valuable to students! It builds their background knowledge and improves their comprehension skills as well as their ability to make connections. It doesn’t have to be a nonfiction text that you use, you can utilize other nonfiction resources too, like videos. Taking the reading aspect out of it makes it much more fun for struggling readers. It allows them to work on listening comprehension and build language skills, which will in turn improve their reading comprehension. But where do you find quality nonfiction resources? There is a lot of content out there to sort through and it is so important that we ensure the videos we share are appropriate for our needs. Don’t worry, I have you covered! My favorite place to find nonfiction videos is YouTube! In this episode of SLP Coffee Talk, I am sharing with you the best nonfiction YouTube channels that you can turn to when you need videos for your speech therapy sessions! Tune in to learn more about these YouTube channels and how I use them to target any goal in my speech therapy sessions.
