Lauren tries to get to the roof but is attacked by Birdbrain (the Messenger).They both use their ninja skills (circus skills?) on the catwalk, landing up on the roof, where Birdbrain chokes Lauren and grinds their knee into Lauren's wound. We speculate as to the identity of the Messenger- Rafael? Athena? Someone who know and dislikes Lauren personally?  
Kym sees this going on and using the superhuman strength reserved to people in situations of extreme duress, manages to extricate herself from under the debris, just in time to save the day for Lauren.  
The Messenger, however, even while slipping, manages to overbalance Kym and... throw her off the roof.  At the last minute, Lauren rescues Kym- twice- and pulls her into a bear hug, crying. Kym flashes back to all the other hugs they've shared, realizing that this is certainly Lauren. She tells her to go before she gets arrested, and Lauren escapes.
