Description

Indianapolis Colts Director of Team Development Brian Decker stops by to tell Michael Robinson and Brian Billick about what the locker room felt like after his first playoff win with the team in 2018 (1:55). Brian then delves into how he transitioned a 22-year military career into an NFL front office position, and it all began after a chance meeting with Cleveland Browns. He then draws comparisons between being a Commander of Assessment Selection in the Special Forces, and scouting talent in the NFL (3:33). Coach asks Brian to explain how he developed his mission centric leadership approach in the military (7:00), and the five questions he uses to evaluate NFL prospects (12:00). The guys also get the Green Beret to name his favorite players that he’s ever scouted (17:25), and how he’s helped the Colts avoid drafting ‘grenades’ that could’ve torn apart the team (19:30). Lastly, Brian gives his thoughts on how his process of evaluating players will help the team prepare for the NFL Draft during the pandemic (20:20).
