Gladys Bentley was a blues artist and entertainer during the Harlem Renaissance. She was known for wearing mens' clothing, singing her own raunchy lyrics, and flirting with women in the audience. Despite being married to multiple men, Bentley was openly lesbian. It goes without saying that she marched to the beat of her own drum. A wonderful talent. A beautiful badass.
