Often when someone is passionate about something and they aren’t an expert right away, Terri explains that people give up sooner because of the genius myth. Why is it dangerous to get hung up on passion? There is no supposed to. If pursuing your passion is no longer working for you, Terri explains that it’s time to give yourself permission to move on. “There isn’t any one thing you are meant to do or follow or be.” Artists I talk to run into this. They often ask “what should I paint?” What’s more important is making a choice. Doing the work and making the effort is what makes you an artist. Evolving over time is part of the journey.
