On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we recap the Wild's preseason opening loss to St. Louis. We discuss why Adam Beckman was the lone highlight and if we should be concerned by the struggles of Kaapo Kahkonen and Andrew Hammond. We also look at some of Dean Evason's comments after the game in regards to Jordan Greenway's performance in particular.
We then move to the announcement of Alternate Captains Marcus Foligno and Matt Dumba and why they are both great fits that were unanimously supported by the rest of the team. With Foligno his physical presence always sets the tone for the Wild and so him being an Alternate Captain is a no brainer. With Dumba, his work off the ice have made him into a natural leader for this team.
We then look at some changes the Wild have made to their lines so far in the preseason and if they make sense as long term plans or if they will need to be adjusted before the season starts. In the case of Joel Eriksson Ek on the top line, that should be allowed to play out. The bottom two lines will be a bit of a work in progress though. We finish by looking at the rest of the week, including another preseason game coming up Thursday against Colorado in which Cam Talbot will likely make his preseason debut.
