Description

Endurance Horse Podcast - Episode 15
Welcome to Episode 15 of the Endurance Horse Podcast!
Publishing on 20th of February 2019
It is nearing the end of February and I am happy to bring to you a new episode of Endurance Horse Podcast.  In this episode, Crewing, or depending on where you live, also known as strapping is a common theme woven throughout the various stories in this episode of Endurance Horse Podcast, and as you will hear in story by Carrie Baris, the endurance and ride and tie community and how it cares for each other does not end at ride camp when the trailers all head back home.  Carrie’s story shows us the love and heart of the community that is endurance horse community.   The bonds formed in all levels of endurance often become friendships that go far outside of the line where ride camp ends.

To prepare the intro for Episode 15 I searched the definition of crew/crewing and strapping.  I will spare you the definitions, they really didn’t fit.
Other words that I thought of were family…that did not exactly fit either.  Then I searched for the word minister, “To attend to the needs of someone, to give care or serve” & that definition fit perfectly.

Without further ado, I bring to you episode 15 of Endurance Horse Podcast, may you laugh, cry, learn and be inspired.

Hello, this is Chris, I hope you enjoyed riding along with us on this virtual loop.  If this were an actual ride, we would be likely riding into our first hold right about now and many of us being helped out by our family and crew.
This episode was to be about crewing, though one thing was highlighted to me from all the audios I listened to and edited.  No horse is easy, we all suffer loss, most of us experience healing through horses and many of us are blessed to have found friends who crew for us in our actual life.  Just knowing they are there, waiting to pick us up if everything goes sideways means a lot.   A distance ride is much like life, Courtney, I think there is a sermon in there somewhere…..
Much love & happy trails to you all. May your stirrups always be the same length and your boots stay dry!  Until next time, BYE!

About the creator of the Endurance Horse Podcast:
Christina Hyke lives in southern Wisconsin with her husband, Jim.  Chris is an equine & pet photographer who also happens to love the trails and distance riding.  It was the love of covering miles through beautiful territory on good horses that inspired her to create a podcast about it to share stories with other riders from around the world.  Chris and Jim also donate photography sessions to area rescues/humane societies, and Chris teaches photography to local 4H members. She enjoys the little things in life, because she believes it really is the little things that are the big things.
