Description

Dan Lust and Tarun are joined by John Nucci (@JNucci23) who is a frequent contributor to our website with some great articles. You can check out his articles here.  They discuss updates in the sports world (2:35) regarding bans for Russia and Belarus due to the military invasion of Ukraine. In the NHL world, CCM has made the decision to not use Alexander Ovechkin in any of their promotions. The Formula 1 world has begun banning Nikita Mazepin from racing. Are these bans/restrictions on Russian athletes who are not competing on behalf of Russia fair or justified? The PGA is having a lot of problems with Saudi Arabia creating tournaments to encourage golfers to go over and compete. (8:52) The PGA has been threathening to remove players from the tour and encouraging players to not enter tournaments for the Saudi Golf League ("SGL"). Phil Mickelson has seen a number of his sponsors pull out after the comments he made around the SGL. Are there any antitrust implications here if the PGA prevents players from competing in the SGL? We heard in February that Tevor Bauer (23:12) won't face criminal charges. Now, Bauer has filed a subpoena to get his accuser's cell phone records because he believes she coordinated this lawsuit for monetary gain. The subpoena will be ruled upon April 4, 2022. Bauer's accuser could still file a civil action against him and Manfred could still impose punishment. The WNBA (34:07) fined the New York Liberty $500,000 for chartering planes during the 2021 regular season. Many of the players around the league are voicing their opposition because the charter flights are a good thing for the league and only improve the brand and product. We will see whether this fine holds up. *** Have a topic you want to write about? ANYONE and EVERYONE can publish for ConductDetrimental.com. Let us know if you want to join the team.
