Description

In this episode I am joined by Kassidi Jones. Kassidi is a PHD candidate in African American Studies in English at Yale University, social justice advocate, and content creator behind @gingers_naps on Instagram. In addition to posting super cute pics of her dog Ginger, she discusses the intersections of race and animal welfare. We dive into the fraught relationship between African Americans and dogs in the United States and the discrimination that still shows up today.  We also discuss how we as pet parents and those that work in the pet industry, can do our part to bring about change.  Helpful Links:Follow Kassidi on Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/gingers_naps/For Reading Lists and POC Directory : https://www.kassidijones.com/instagram-linksFollow The Baroo :https://www.instagram.com/baroopet/https://www.thebaroo.comDo you have a story of canine companionship, a training question, veterinary question or just a comment? Contact me : Charlotte@thebaroo.com or call              424-273-5131

I'm Charlotte Bayne and I have been caring for other people's dogs for more than 15 years. Some people call me a canine concierge. I specialize in helping my clients be more mindful about their pets' needs and to make sustainable choices that benefit both their pets and their family. Join me for a series of casual conversations with animal industry experts, from scientists and veterinarians to psychics and healers, and everyone in between—including heartwarming stories of canine companionship and some seriously fun conversations with some people you may know, about the dogs they love.
