Description
In the Old Testament story of Genesis we are told that God created the whole universe in six days. On the last day he created human beings, supposedly his ultimate creative masterpiece. Sometime later God issued his commandments for how his masterpieces should live and demanded total obedience to the creator. None of these commandments demand that human beings, supposedly made in the creator's image, go forth and be creative in their own right. Was Mel Brooks correct when he suggested, in his comic masterpiece The History of the World, Part 1 that Moses dropped a third tablet containing another five commandments? Might those, now lost commandments, have demanded that we balance the needs of the individual against the needs of the group and struggle to find ways to be the loving creative artists each of us is capable of becoming with our duty to become obedient zombies seeking the blood of our fellow artists? That is the story we explore tonight.
