Description

English with Dane episode 32:Hey! What’s up? What’s going on? Welcome to English with Dane, a show designed to improve your English. As always, I’m your host Dane, and you can find me on Instagram and Twitter @englishwithdane. Today’s show is about two things. One of the most devastating cataclysms of all time and one of the coolest, most bad-ass world records I have ever read about. I think you’ll enjoy it. Before we start, don’t forget to subscribe to the show and give it a 5-star rating on Apple podcasts or wherever you listen to the show. It’s a big help. Ok. Let’s start the show. You are listening to the 32nd episode of English with Dane. Hit it!-----The most powerful volcanic eruption in recorded history occurs on Krakatoa, a small, uninhabited volcanic island located west of Sumatra in Indonesia, on August 27, 1883. The explosions were heard (fueron oídas) from around 5,000 km away… they threw (arrojaron) 20 cubic kilometers of earth 80 kilometers into the air, and created 120-foot tsunamis, killing 36,000 people. 120 feet is around 36 or 37 meters by the way. That’s crazy. Imagine hearing something from 5,000 kilometers away. That’s almost the distance from Madrid to New York. A little bit less but still… Imagine how violent an explosion has to be (tiene que ser) for you to be able to hear it 5000 km away… violent enough (lo suficientemente violenta) to create 120-foot tsunamis I guess… Contact me for the full transcript! englishwithdane@gmail.com----Intro music: Song: You Artist: TumacaListen on Tumaca on SpotifyInstagram: @tumacamusicVideo of Diana Nyad arriving at Key West after her world record swimSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/englishwithdane)

¿Hablas español y quieres mejorar tu inglés? Then English with Dane is perfect for you. De verdad, si te sientes estancado/a con el inglés... o si simplemente quieres "mantener forma"... try this podcast. Hablo a un ritmo tranquilo y voy traduciendo cosas para que no te estreses con entender todo. I talk about things like movies, news, sports, music, history, etc, and I always pay special attention to practical vocabulary, expressions and the infinite nuances (sutilezas) that we'll find along the way. Prueba y me cuentas. ¡Ah! Y lo mejor es que además hay transcripciones completas de cada capítulo para que no te pierdas anything! (Ahí tiene que ir "anything" porque no puede haber un "double negative" en inglés!) ✌️
