Description

This week we take a moment to say farewell to a man who has touched and influenced so many in our scene, Colonel Bruce Hampton, Ret. He has often been referred to as a "godfather of the jam scene," and he was respected and loved by so many. He was a leader of the jamband scene, as it grew from the clubs of the late 80s and spawned H.O.R.D.E. in the early 90s and through to today. He passed surrounded by loved ones, friends, and fans, doing what he did for so long, introducing the unexpected into music. Whether it be the Hampton Grease Band, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Fiji Mariners, the Code Talkers, or playing Trombone with Phis, he provoked his fellow players to circumvent the obvious and inspired them to rise to ever greater heights. This episode focuses on the intersections of Col. Bruce and Phish, of course, and also some other music (see below). A few other things: please give us input into our survey about how Phish has impacted your life. We have some good ideas for what to do with this stuff, so get your submission in!
