Robert didn’t start playing tennis until 8th grade, but still found himself playing college tennis before starting his coaching career. He has won the USPTA’s Facility Manager of the Year award, as well as the 2008 USPTA/ITA Touring Coach of the Year award for his work as both a coach and a tennis operations specialist.
Robert has had tremendous success coaching players throughout his career, developing talents like UVA Head Coach Andres Pedroso and Grand Slam doubles champion Julian Rojer. Much of our discussion revolved around how junior tennis players have changed their training habits over the years. He feels, like most of our guests, that fitness and nutrition have become so much more important and specialized for players of all levels. Robert sells ArrowBar in all of his pro shops ,and feels they are a great alternative to some of the antiquated choices players used to have.
