Description

It is now the longest government shutdown in history. Many federal workers that are affected by the shutdown are not being paid, and no one in the political leadership wants to budge. Ginger Gibson, political reporter for Reuters joins us for the continued shutdown and two reports about the president and Russia. We learn what triggered a counterintelligence investigation against the president and the extraordinary lengths he went through to hide readouts of his meetings with Vladimir Putin.

Next, these are the most dangerous jobs in the US. Electricians, firefighters and police officers are among some of the jobs that carry a lot of risk. But did you know that fishers and fishing related work are also on this list? My producer Miranda joins us for what many of these jobs have in common, working from dangerous heights, contact with dangerous machinery or environments, or driving for long periods of time.

Finally, there is a mysterious and stubborn appeal of mass-produced fried chicken. When done right, it’s crispy, salty, juicy and one of the best comfort foods around. We speak to freelance writer Adam Clair about why everyone loves it so much and why so many accomplished chefs call Popeye’s their favorite fried chicken.
