The summer of 2019 has been a terrible year for the Endangered Northern Right Whale. 6 individual whales were killed in Canada within 48 hours due to ship strikes or fishing gear entanglement. The whale population cannot endure summers similar to this one as there are only 400 individuals left with less than 100 of those individuals are breeding females.  The US and Canadian governments along with industry and environmental organizations are working together to prevent further damage to the population. However, one group, the Maine Lobstermen Association, says that it conducted its own study that identified other sources of disturbance as the primary reason for the population decrease.   Listen to the episode to find out why I agree (kind of) with the Association with some reservations.
