Description
Watching the news out of Ukraine, Tokunbo Koiki saw alarming reports of African and Caribbean students struggling because of racism to flee the country. The news both outraged and inspired her to take action — fast. Tokunbo, an entrepreneur and social worker, shares the real-time story of how she linked up with two strangers, Patricia Daley and Korrine Sky, to build a full-fledged aid organization for Black refugees, in a single weekend. Using only the tools and networks at their disposal, Black Women for Black Lives has helped some 1,200 Black students so far with direct assistance in cash and cryptocurrency — and amplified their harrowing stories to the world. This fast-scaling organization is the perfect illustration of how entrepreneurial thinking can mobilize action faster than you think it can.You can donate to blackwomenforblacklives.org here: https://bit.ly/blackinukraineRead a transcript of this episode: https://mastersofscale.comSubscribe to the Masters of Scale weekly newsletter: http://eepurl.com/dlirtXSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
