Molly Bloom (@ImMollyBloom), Author, Podcaster, Entrepreneur and subject of the book and movie “Molly’s Game” joins Sports Business Radio to share her incredible story and discuss her latest projects. Molly Bloom, a world-class skier who comes from a very accomplished family, was severely injured during a qualifying event for the Winter Olympics and her skiing career ended. Instead of following her original plan to attend law school, Bloom moved to Los Angeles where she would eventually run card games for movie stars, investment bankers, pro athletes and wealthy individuals. Buy in for these games started at $250K and players would win or lose $100M. Bloom was targeted by the Italian mob and eventually arrested by 17 FBI agents.
Molly tells Sports Business Radio how she rebuilt her life after losing everything but her freedom, how she has battled drug and alcohol addiction and how she learned how to be an entrepreneur who never settled for rejection. She turned her remarkable story into an asset which was made into a movie, “Molly’s Game”, by award-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (and stars Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba and Kevin Costner). Bloom shares the story with us about the struggle to find a studio and screenwriter/director for “Molly’s Game" before Sorkin signed on.
Bloom also shares details for her new podcast “Torched”, which debits January 18 on podcast platforms everywhere. “Torched" is a podcast about the heat of competition. On Season 1, Bloom tells stories of scandal, controversy, and redemption on the biggest world stage: the Olympics.
