Description

In this episode, we sit down with Elaine Maimon to discuss reopening schools and the future of higher education amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Elaine was the president of Governors State University (GSU), the only public university in the South Suburbs of Chicago. Through her thirteen years as its president, she helped lead GSU through the Great Recession of 2008-9, the Illinois budget crisis and in the last months of her presidency, the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before heading GSU, Dr. Maimon was Chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage and Vice President of Arizona State University, where she led the West Campus. She has also served on the boards of the American Council on Education (2015-20), the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), and will soon be at the American Council on Education (ACE) as a special advisor to its President. She is a prolific writer in professional publications and is the author of Leading Academic Change: Vision, Strategy, Transformation.
