Description

There is a real gap between the LGBTQ community and financial planning and there's no way to mask it. I have to admit, there were some shocking stats that David and John from The Debt Free Guys talked about on this podcast episode that blew my mind. I didn't know that in many states just having a picture up in your office or on your desk at work if you're part of the LGBTQ community could come with heavy financial consequences like losing your job. So, I wanted to find out, why is it that the LGBTQ community is overlooked by the financial industry. On This Podcast Episode:David and John from The Debt Free Guys recently wrote an article for GoBankingRates about why the financial services industry needed more LGBTQ people and I knew they had to be a guest on the show. I've received a lot of emails with Ask Shannah questions from listeners who feel like they can't relate to financial advice, are a part of the LGBTQ community, and don't know where to turn.In this episode, we will offer some resources, advice, and real talk on this subject.Even if you aren't part of this community, this episode will open your eyes to some of the injustice that members of this community face and the financial ramifications of being overlooked and discounted for years.Check out Queer Money PodcastCheck out Debt Free GuysCheck out other Smart Money Squad articlesThanks for Tuning In:Thanks for tuning in to listen to this episode of Millennial Money.
