The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 7th study session on Frantz Fanon's 1961 book, The Wretched of the Earth. Born in Martinique in 1925, Fanon is a globally acclaimed psychiatrist who devoted his 36 years of life to eradicating White terrorism. He fought for Algerian independence from French colonial domination and black liberation world wide. Fanon also penned Black Skin, White Mask, which is a psychoanalysis of the perversions and neurosis that drives the sexual liaisons between Whites and black people. Interestingly, Fanon himself married a White woman. The writer and psychiatrist died from leukemia the same year The Wretched of the Earth was published; it's reported that Fanon's health deteriorated to the point that he dictated final portions the book to his White wife. Last week's session invested an enormous amount of time criticizing the black middle class and how their ineptitude and greed consistently betrays Black liberation. Importantly, Fanon stressed that black methods of communication must improve if we're to permanently end White rule. Like many Victims of Racism, Fanon suggests that Whites are ignorant about the murder and rape of Black people.
