Description

The sermon was delivered on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION “The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time.” —Thomas Jefferson Jefferson was an American Revolutionary and someone who penned the Declaration of Independence. But, how did he square this sentiment with being a slave owner? The reality is, most of us are more complex than our reputations allow. A faithful patriot can be an unfaithful spouse. Someone with a successful career can fail as a parent. Everyone has weaknesses but must we judge others by their worst mistakes? Can we honor parts of someone when they lack integrity in other areas? How do we measure the value of a life? Perhaps we reflect on the words from Jesus, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone.” SUBSCRIBE TO AUDIO PODCAST: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/all-souls-unitarian-church/id193096943 WATCH THIS SERMON ON YOUTUBE: https://youtu.be/qnXOffHz6gU SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=allsoulsunitarian GIVE A DONATION TO HELP US SPREAD THIS LOVE BEYOND BELIEF: http://www.allsoulschurch.org/GIVE or text LOVEBB to 73256 LET'S CONNECT: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/allsoulstulsa Twitter: https://twitter.com/AllSoulsTulsa All Souls Church Website: http://www.allsoulschurch.org
