Description
Portosystemic shunts (PSS) are a primary differential for the ADR ("ain't doing right"), obtunded, seizuring puppy. While PSS aren't commonly seen, veterinarians should be aware of the clinical features seen with this disease, including urate urolithiasis, presence of microhepatica (commonly seen on radiographs), and bilateral renomegaly. This veterinary podcast reviews how to differentiate between congenital (CPSS) vs. acquired (APSS) shunts, as the treatment and prognosis differs. Questions?
