Description

Podcast Observer and Participant Rob Walch joins us on the ninety-third edition of the GeoGearHeads. Through his work on "Podcast411," "Today in iPhone," and at LibSyn he's been involved in Podcasting since its early days. (More background and the history of podcasting is available through Wikipedia.) Darryl ran through a list of when some of the notable podcasts on Geocaching began (including the late "CacheCast" show by pdantic – interviewed on CAM105 – which has since podfaded and slightly most recent SLAGA by konopapw – interviewed on CAM019– which was retired many years ago), but also the current list of English-based shows:

Cachers Corner
Caching in the Northwest
The Chicago Geocacher Podcast
Geocaching Podcast
GeoSnippits Reboot
Geotalk
Hikerjamz Geocaching Talk Show
The Podcache Show
Podcacher
Twin Cities GeoCaching PodCast
UK Geocaching Podcast

sseegars also shared that the first podcasts to which he subscribed were the "Home Town Tales" and "Nocturnal." For Geocachers looking to get into podcast creation Rob recommends the bossjock studio iOS app and iRig MIC Cast as an ease mobile solution. He's also setup "Podcasting How To" information on his Podcast411 site, including a PDF for those looking to record through Skype. He also recommends his "Podcast411" and the LibSyn "The Feed" shows for people interested in creation of podcasts. The live video session from this Google+ Hangout On Air can be found on YouTube.
