She is South African Japanese, currently studying in Cape Town, South Africa. She uses her Instagram account to promote conscious consumerism, particularly in fashion. She co-founded Thrift & Gift, a clothing swap event in Cape Town that donates the proceeds to NGOs. We have enjoyed talking with each other over Instagram about thrift and culture. She champions a very important message that I don’t think we hear enough these days -- reminding us to get out of our own familiar territories and have conversations with people from different perspectives.
