He served as an assistant wrestling coach at Virginia from 2000 to 2002 and was the head wrestling coach at Slippery Rock University from 2002 to 2004. Harshaw is now an Assistant Director for the Virginia Athletics Foundation and hosts the Wrestling with Greatness podcast.
