About this ebook

Book One of the Chronicles of the Madmen.

Stan Evans is the embodiment of filth and laziness. Life has been squeezing him for a long time, but the final blow comes from his ex-girlfriend, who demands child support. Desperate to avoid court, Stan decides to rob a late-night convenience store. Naturally, everything goes wrong — the police catch him red-handed at the scene.

After a short, pathetic escape, he finds himself trapped in a dark alley with no way out… or so it seems.

In a blink, Stan and the pursuing police officer vanish — abducted by extraterrestrial forces. When they wake up aboard a strange spacecraft, they realize they're trapped, though not in a strictly lethal way. And soon the representatives of an alien civilization will deeply regret one thing: of all the humans they could have taken aboard, they chose Stan.

His personality, foul habits, and utterly disgusting manners will make sure of that.

    Nasty Stan - Диего Мальхед

    Chapter 1

Emily had just finished a phone call with her lawyer. Her problem was simple: her ex-boyfriend wasn’t paying child support. The last time she’d received any money from him was six months ago, back when he still had a job. After he got fired, he seemed to renounce the entire world and hole up in his dump for the rest of his life. His psychological state, however, didn’t concern Emily in the slightest. She needed money. Where her former partner was supposed to get it was none of her business. He could sell his apartment for all she cared — just pay up.

Her lawyer, Mr. Joseph Miller, was doing his best to help her move the case forward, but he kept persuading her not to take it to court just yet. The reason was likely not male solidarity so much as a personal dislike for his client. He advised her to speak once more with the child’s father, Mr. Stan Evans, and convince him to find a job so he could pay support — or even help him look for one, if necessary. Emily didn’t like that idea at all, but Mr. Miller left her no choice.

Finding Stan turned out to be a problem. Emily checked all his usual hangouts and everyone who might know him, but nothing came of it. Stan didn’t have a phone — he’d lost it a long time ago. Or maybe sold it. He himself couldn’t remember. Finally, one of their mutual acquaintances told her that Stan was hanging around a subway line, shaking down passersby.

Stan wasn’t a big guy. Not muscular, never practiced any kind of martial arts. What he did have was nerve — a lot of it — along with rudeness and a complete lack of manners. That combination helped him pressure people when he needed something from them. He could fight, sure, but most of those fights didn’t end in his favor. Proof of that was the repeatedly broken nose on his face.

Once Emily learned where he might be, she hurried there and found him quickly.

Where’s the money, you bastard? Emily snapped.

Well, hello to you too, Stan replied with a smile, glancing around for a
