    Welcome to this book designed to help you improve your academic English vocabulary with helpful idioms, phrases, and expressions.

    My goal is to help you expand your academic English vocabulary and to be able to speak and write more fluently. Improve your confidence when studying at an English-speaking college or talking to colleagues from other countries.

    Let's face it, academic English can be difficult to master, even for the best students. In this book, you'll find 200 of the most common academic words that start with G—->M.

    To get the most value from this book, be sure to do the following:

    −  Review frequently.

    −  Use each word in real life as soon as possible.

    −  Don't be nervous about making mistakes. That's how you'll get better at English.

    −  Do the practice sections. Try not to cheat and look at the answers too much!

    ​Words 1-10

    generate

    verb: To produce or create.

    Example: The new policy is expected to generate more job opportunities.

    More examples:

    Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight.

    His comments generated a lot of discussion during the meeting.

    integrate

    verb: To combine parts or elements into a unified whole; to incorporate into a larger system.

    Example: The curriculum was redesigned to integrate digital literacy across all subject areas.

    More examples:

    The study integrates both quantitative and qualitative methods to provide a comprehensive analysis.

    New technologies have been integrated into classroom settings to enhance student learning outcomes.

    manipulate

    verb: To control or influence something skillfully, often in a way that is deliberate or sometimes subtle.

    Example: The experiment was designed to manipulate environmental variables in order to observe changes in behavior.

    More examples:

    Researchers manipulated the independent variable to test its effect on learning outcomes.

    The study investigated how media content can be manipulated to shape public perception.

    intermediate

    adjective: Occurring between two stages, levels, or degrees; in the middle of a process or progression.

    Example: The course is designed for students with an intermediate level of language proficiency.

    More examples:

    The study included beginner, intermediate, and advanced learners to compare language acquisition patterns.

    Researchers observed significant improvements during the intermediate phase of the training program.

    verb: To find the position of something or to place it in a particular location.

    Example: The researchers used GPS data to locate the field sites for ecological sampling.

    income

    noun: Money received, especially on a regular basis, from work, investments, or other sources.

    Example: The study examined the relationship between household income and access to higher education.

    Students from lower-income backgrounds often face additional financial barriers in pursuing tertiary education.

    Researchers used income data to analyze patterns of social inequality across regions.

    adjective: Related to the science or practice of medicine and health care.
