In this chapter, I will explore the key elements of mental wellness and how to achieve it through natural solutions that nourish both mind and body. Through understanding the problem, defining mental wellness, and exploring its causes, we can discover a holistic approach to mental wellness and improved well-being.
Mental Wellness
For many, mental wellness hasn't been a priority, a fact that is both disheartening and concerning. Mental health issues are on the rise, with individuals across the globe struggling to cope with conditions like depression, anxiety, and even suicidal thoughts. While traditional treatments may provide temporary relief, they don’t address the root cause of these problems or the underlying issues that lead to mental health issues in the first place.
What’s more disheartening is that many of the barriers surrounding mental health such as stigma, lack of time, and lack of access to resources continue to be in place. This makes it difficult for individuals to find the help they need, and it’s important to understand that mental health is not a one-size-fits-all situation. Luckily, holistic mental wellness is changing the way we look at mental health. Rather than focusing solely on treating symptoms, holistic mental wellness takes a whole-person approach to mental health. This means that it looks at all aspects of an individual’s life and health, such as physical, emotional, and spiritual, and focuses on treating the individual in their entirety.
Holistic mental wellness looks at the person as a whole, not just their mental health.
