About this ebook
It's my job to protect Queen Casey and young Prince Levi.
Normally, that's not a problem.
Being nine months pregnant with twins makes it a lot more complicated.
My mantra has always been duty first, but I never had two innocent babies growing inside of me before.
An attack on the palace sets off a series of events I'm wholly unprepared for.
If Sandor doesn't get to me in time, this may be the end of the road for all of us.

Pregnancy was no joke and carrying twins was about the least amount of fun I’d ever had. I was beyond excited about meeting them, but I wanted them out of my body sooner rather than later. I was thirty-six weeks pregnant, and the doctor thought the babies and I were doing well, so she wanted them to stay put as long as possible, though she suspected they would come early.
My husband, Sandor, and I were trying every old wives’ tale we’d ever heard to induce labor, especially continuing our active sex life, but I was starting to slow down. I’d stayed pretty active until about a month ago, when my stomach got too big for most of the things I enjoyed. I was lucky enough to have an indoor pool at my disposal, but I was tired of being pregnant.
You’re with Casey today, okay?
Sandor came out of the bathroom looking hotter than any forty-year-old man had a right to, and I momentarily sighed as I took in his lean, bare torso and the six-pack abs I loved so much.
He arched one blond brow in amusement. You wanna go again? We have about ten minutes before the security briefing.
I laughed. I don’t think I can come that fast these days.
Is that a challenge?
No, my darling Prince Neanderthal, the two orgasms I had this morning will hold me over until tonight.
I looked down at my feet with a grimace. However, I do need help with these.
Of course.
He knelt in front of me and laced up my boots. I couldn’t bend over like that anymore and he’d been doing this for about two months now. I hated needing someone to tie my shoes, help me up off the couch sometimes, and rub my lower back on a regular basis, but he was great about it.
Well, if I was honest, my husband was great about everything.
I was a lucky woman and never took it for granted.
Ready?
He held out his hands and helped me up.
I reached for my gun and shoulder holster, shrugging them on while he finished getting dressed.
Though Sandor was a prince in an eastern European country called Limaj, he and I were both bodyguards to the royal family. As Royal Protectors, we were an elite group who protected the family and the palace, but I’d been taken off the official duty roster as of this week. Most days, I kept an eye on the queen, Casey, and her youngest son, Levi, who was a toddler. It was low-stress and rarely required me to do much of anything, but in the event of an attack, I could still take down bad guys. The marine in me didn’t go away just because I was pregnant.
I’m starving,
I murmured as we walked out of our private apartment in the southern wing of the palace.
You want to swing by the kitchen?
he asked, threading his fingers through mine.
I shook my head. I’ll get something when I get up to Casey’s. She likes to feed me.
You sure you’re up to working today?
he asked as we stepped into the elevator. He reached out to push a lock of hair behind my ear. I’m off site today at Parliament House probably until dinnertime, but Xander will be here.
I’m good. Really. I’d go insane sitting in our apartment doing nothing all day and we can’t afford for me to take time off anyway.
Make sure you take it easy, though.
He put one of his big hands on my stomach. The doctor said it could be any time.
I know.
I leaned against him. I’m ready.
Soon,
he whispered, pressing his lips to my temple. And then we’ll have our beautiful baby boys.
I smiled as we stepped out of the elevator and walked toward the conference room where we held our daily briefings. Once we were done there, I’d head up to the king’s wing of the palace and hang out with Casey all day. Hopefully, it would be nice and quiet.
Casey Hart had been an American rock star who’d played with two chart-topping hard rock bands. She and King Erik had been in love in their early twenties when tragedy separated them
