    Introduction

    Everything flows, nothing stands still.

    Heraclitus.

Since the dawn of humanity, our fascination with celestial bodies has been unwavering. As the ancient ancestors cast their eyes skyward, they beheld the wondrous dance of the stars and planets, recognising not only their significance in shaping our daily lives but also the profound vastness of the cosmos.

Across diverse cultures, these celestial bodies have inspired an array of myths and legends, intricately woven into the fabric of religion and cultural heritage. The ancient Greeks, in particular, delved deep into the realms of mythology to elucidate the enigmatic nature of these entities. Tales of heroes who faced downfall and retribution, to demigods who were duly rewarded for their valorous deeds, philosophers who posited their own theories far away from what the religion was suggesting, from the resplendent stars to the majestic planets, and even the radiant sun and our own earth, in this small book, I unravel the celestial narratives that have endured through the annals of time, shedding light on the rich tapestry of ancient Greek culture.

The book starts by exploring the ancient stories and theories about how the universe was created, from the era of Hesiod to the time of Plato and Aristotle. It then delves into myths about the sun, dawn, and the moon and continues by examining the myths associated with the most significant and visible constellations.

Throughout the pages, readers will be able to enhance their comprehension with related images collected from the 123RF website, either via the 123RF AI Image Generator or independent profiles. To provide proper attribution, the book includes a page that lists the sources of these images. Finally, the book includes a page at the end that gathers references to all the sources used to curate the richness of knowledge offered within.
