My Favorite Ex - French Alsabrooks

In Loving Memory of Corey Alvonce Isaac Jr.

20 Years of his magnetic personality was not enough, yet his Legacy that he left behind will be memorable for a lifetime. We miss you daily, and I would walk the Earth barefoot a thousand times to feel just one more of your hugs!

    Chapter 1

Tiyonna was nervously excited as she sat across from Colvin at Mama’s Mexicana restaurant. The dim lighting and the soft strumming of a guitar in the background created a romantic ambiance that made her heart race. Colvin's light grey eyes glistened in the soft light, contrasting beautifully against his rich, dark chocolate skin. Tiyonna couldn't help but feel a magnetic pull towards him. They were seated outside on the patio, offering the perfect view of their surroundings. There was only one other couple seated outside with them, allowing them to speak freely on their first date.

As they perused the menu, trying to decide what to order, Tiyonna couldn't stop stealing glances at Colvin's handsome face. She felt a flush rise to her cheeks every time their eyes met, and she couldn't help but smile.

The waiter eventually came to take their orders, and they decided to share a platter of assorted tacos and a pitcher of margaritas. As they waited for their food to arrive, Colvin reached across the table and gently took Tiyonna's hand in his. The simple gesture sent a wave of warmth through her, and she squeezed his hand in return.

Tiyonna found herself opening up to Colvin in a way she hadn't with anyone else before. They were sitting under the starlit sky, the gentle breeze carrying their laughter into the night.

Tell me about your biggest dream, Colvin said, his eyes eager to learn more about her.

She paused, looking up at the twinkling stars, Hmm. My biggest dream is to open a cozy bookstore with a café attached, a place where people can escape into the pages of a book and enjoy a warm cup of coffee.

Colvin smiled, his eyes sparkling with admiration, That sounds like a wonderful dream. I can picture it already, shelves filled with books and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee lingering in the air.

As they continued to talk, Tiyonna shared stories from her childhood, her fears, and her aspirations. Colvin listened intently, offering words of encouragement and understanding.

I appreciate you being vulnerable with me. It takes a lot for someone to be willing to do that. What do you feel is the most important thing in life? Colvin asked, his gaze fixed on her.

After a moment of contemplation, she replied, Look at you being all deep and shit. If I had to choose, the most important thing in life is love. Love for oneself, for others, and for the world around us. It has the power to heal, to inspire, and to connect us all.

Colvin nodded, his expression filled with respect, I couldn't agree more. Love truly is the essence of life.

When their food arrived, they dug in eagerly, savoring the burst of flavors that exploded in their mouths with each bite. Tiyonna watched with delight as Colvin's eyes lit up with each new taco he tried, and she felt a sense of happiness wash over her.

You seem like a good man. I just can’t believe that you are single. I’m shocked no one has latched on to you and refused to let go, Tiyonna commented, her eyes lit up with lust.

I could say the same about you. In my experience, some of the women from my past felt like I was too good to be true. They would always find an issue where there was none. I’m big on spending quality time with my lady, but I need time to myself. My ex used to go through my phone so much, that I never had any privacy. I had to call it quits and just wish her the best.

Damn. That’s hard to hear. I learned from a past relationship never to go through a man’s phone. When you go looking for something, you are sure to find exactly what you are searching for.

As the evening drew to a close, Tiyonna realized she didn't want the night to end. She had never felt such a strong connection with someone before, and she knew that this was just the beginning of something beautiful. Then again, the glasses of margarita that she had consumed were taking effect on her judgement. When it came to her heart, Tiyonna always fell hard for anyone who she gave her time to. As Colvin walked Tiyonna
