As an introduction to the First Americans (FAs) of Southern California, mainly in the area now called Los Angeles County, this book highlightsthe life oftheFAs, their history, villages, and way oflife to give the reader an idea of their daily lives.
This is not a romance. It also is not all that pretty. The FAs are all but gone now. Please note that this, as a part ofour history, spans centuries. This book goes back in time to 1508 and covers the period from then up to 1853. In 1508, Garci Rodriguez de Montalvo and Salvador Bernabéu Albert published the book Las Sergas de Esplandian (The Mythical Land of"Queen Calafia"). It was immensely popular. In the story, the queen’s name was Calafia, and she ruled the Amazons (all women warriors) in an island country. So popular was the novel that they, the crew, named their newly-discovered land
