What the hell! Sam yelled, ducking behind a trash can inside the alley, with Jake by her side. We’re in fucking Canada for fucks sake. How did they find us?

Opposite them, behind another trash can, Diana and Mark squatted to shield themselves.

Diana, you’re hit. Mark pointed to the side of her stomach. She’s been hit!

It’s fine, I’m used to it.

They pulled out their guns as the men entered the alley slowly. They could hear the screams of Canadians in the street as everyone scattered in different directions.

Jake, open the portal, we’ll stall them! Mark ordered, standing from where he hid to return fire.

Sam and Diana joined him. They didn’t carry enough ammunition, so they were needed to move fast.

Diana, jump through! Jake yelled at her.

She was the one they wanted, so she needed to leave first and quickly. Diana knew this, so she ran towards the portal at the end of the alley. The men saw her and increased their pace and their shots. Diana caught a few bullets, but she made it into the portal, carrying her bag of flashlights.

Sam, go! I got them, Mark yelled at her, rolling the trash can to serve as a shield from the bullets.

Sam ran as fast as she could, carrying the bag and practically flew into the portal. Mark followed immediately after, then Jake.

Landing on the other side, they waited with their empty guns, hoping the attackers didn’t summon the balls to jump through. There was no way they could defend themselves if they did jump through and the empty field was a perfect place for the attackers to grab them and just jump back. As soon as the portal closed, Sam crashed to the ground in relief.

Is anyone else hurt? Diana asked, panting.

Sam sat up from the grass. Bitch, you are bleeding from so many holes. I don’t think you should be worried about anyone else.

Mark placed a hand on Diana’s shoulder. Are you good? Do you feel dizzy?

I’m good, thanks. I’ve been through worse. What I don’t get is why I’m always the one catching bullets.

Mark pulled up her shirt slightly, examining the wound. Your body has expelled the bullets already, so you should be healing.

Why the hell were they so aggressive? Tristen questioned.

Judging by the fact that they didn’t care that it was broad day light, I’ll say that was Hummas, Diana claimed.

Mark sighed. Yeah, that was my guess to.

So, we’re not telling Reece about this, right? Sam interposed, standing from the ground.

    Definitely not, Diana agreed.

They both turned to Mark, giving him a look that said ‘right?’

Why are you both looking at me like that?

Sam took small steps towards him. Mark, we’re not telling Reece about this. If we do, he won’t let us hear the end of it, plus you’ll be in trouble too. You were supposed to protect us, remember?

Mark sucked his teeth. He was not eager to see that angry look on Reece’s face. If it doesn’t come up, then there’s no need to mention it.

Good, Diana stated. I need to be part of this fight and that won’t happen if Klayden decides I’m a liability.

What you need first, is a change of clothes, Sam said.

I’ll get an autocraft and put a call to Gregory to ask for his help, Jake voiced.

That’d be awesome, Sam replied, then turned to Diana. Diana, are you sure you’re okay?

Diana shrugged her shoulders. I don’t feel shit. It’s a pretty awesome superpower.

Reece, you need to relax, Atlas told him. They are in good hands. I’m sure it’s taking them a little bit of time to change the gold.

I don’t know... Reece mumbled. I have a very bad feeling.

We're back, Sam sang as she walked into the room with Diana, Jake and Mark lugging heavy bags.

Reece turned quickly to the door and on seeing them, he sighed in relief.

    It's about damn time!

It looked like they just arrived, but truthfully, they arrived about ten minutes ago. They stuck to the plan, as soon as they arrived at the palace, Gregory provided Diana with a fresh black shirt to hide the bullet holes on her previous one. Sam was convinced that if Reece found out about the attack, he won't let them help anymore. They dragged Gregory into their little secret, making sure it was clear to him that the holes and blood on Diana's shirt were to be kept a secret. He had
