About this ebook

The Chai Makhani Trio leaves the surface of Adghal behind, finally bound for space. Their destination? The massive Commonwealth Flagship which lurks out of sight behind Adghal's only moon.
But getting there poses challenges. The rebellion pilots run blockades all the time. But sneaking onto the most secure ship in the Commonwealth fleet? No easy task.
Elyot needs to get inside to find his mother. Alextra knows more than anyone about the Commonwealth. Keani and her knives just want to stay in it until the end.
But dangers lurk in space, and trying to sneak on board a battle cruiser just might spell the end of the Chai Makhani Trio.
"Running the Blockade” is the seventh episode in the ongoing monthly science fiction adventure serial TALES OF THE CHAI MAKHANI TRIO.

    RUNNING THE BLOCKADE

The interior of the shuttle was far snugger than Elyot would have expected. There was barely room enough for him to stand, and Alextra had to stoop to keep her head from hitting the bulkheads. Keani had an easier time. Perhaps the people who had built this ship had been scaling it to someone more her size.

The interior had a stale people smell to it, like too many people had sweated inside this enclosed space and not enough cleaning had been done between missions. There was also a sweet smell, but Elyot was pretty sure that was from whatever sort of puddle he stepped in as he came inside the door. Someone's spilled drink, mostly dehydrated now.

Then Keani, the last one up the ramp, closed the door behind her, and the inside of the shuttle immediately felt too close and too stuffy. Elyot had never been claustrophobic in his life, but he really hated the feeling of being inside a tin can, unable to let himself out.

Then a vent beside his head started blasting him with cool, metallic-smelling air. Not great, but better than the hot, close alternative.

He moved further inside to get out of Keani's way. There wasn't much to see inside the shuttle. It was almost like someone had gutted whatever had been built inside originally to allow for this open space.
