Duality in the Beauty Industry

Men in the beauty industry? Oh hell, yes, you better believe it!

A very popular trend these days, men have been in the beauty industry for almost half the amount of time as women have. From movie actors, newscasters, artist, and celebrities alike. All looking to enhance physical features to bring out the best look possible. Today the beauty industry is worth a staggering $511 billion worldwide, with America leading as the largest market and Asia Pacific as the fastest growing market. More companies are now generating more products geared toward men and male skincare, which in the near future has been projected to rapidly increase. By the end of 2022, CBNC reports that the personal skincare market for men will clear $166 billion alone.

Other professions in the beauty industry and their annual salaries include, but are not limited to:

• Barbers – $45,000

• Fashion designers – $50,000

• Hairstylists – $30,000

• Masseuse – $45,000

• Nail techs – $22,000

• Esthetician – $40,000

• Medical ethics – $35,000

• Tailors – $42,000

• Reflexologists – $50,000

• Reiki energetic practitioners – $60,000

In today’s society, we understand the average male to occupy less than half of the professions under the beauty banner, but there is such a broad spectrum of opportunities available. In some places, you might be offered facial or waxing services at a barbershop, but how common is that these days? Even attending a salon or spa, how often can you receive a number of services from a male employee? Most men work only in the standard barbershops, which hardly employ women to expand
