I.
Some are born to make it through.
Others leave an enormous ditch
where their memory is stored for others to view.
None can tell which place is which.
One realm is slept through, the other alert.
One decreases altitude, the other decreases dirt.
Both realms have epitaph and an oracle.
But only one is phantasmagorical.
II.
To think is to die if you know the thought
in the little tiny place ideas are adorned.
They are pupils dependent who life has taught
to make an image where you are formed.
In here you dwell yet only a guest
in all your senses speciation
imaginary as storms stirred from breath
until the mirage of your mental vacation
can’t discern what is from what’s left
and become in whisps a spiritual destination.
III.
How much longer I’ll live is a curious number.
One thousand perhaps, but closer to one.
It may be till noon to fancy such slumber.
Frightened of being makes it a pitiful sum.
What hours are left blissfully unknown
as you pass the geraniums
