Chapter One : The Agent, 2450 AD
Agent Jay Hill entered the Temporal Division of the Security building attached to the World Health Organization. She was a tall, slim, dark-haired girl with a confident manner. She had been a temporal agent now for over five years and as the saying goes She knew her business!
She transported from the lobby to her office floor and smiled at her aide Lee. Morning Lee, anything come in?
A slightly younger, male, he smiled back at her, Yes, DOC has a new assignment for you!
‘DOC’ was the nickname of the huge quantum computer formerly known as Data Overseer Computer. It had links to every place on Earth in the present, past and tenuous links to the future.
She entered her small, glassed office, which had a magnificent view of New York and the homes and apartments of over 50 million inhabitants. The world was bursting at the seams now, with over 30 billion people and as a temporal team, it was her responsibility to oversee any infractions of illegal time-travel.
She glanced at two framed printouts on her glass wall. One was the quote by the ancient inventor, Steve Jobs The most precious resource we all have is time.
The other was a drawing of a tropical island called Hauoli. It had been a peaceful place for thousands of years and the tribal people had developed a democratic society with elders in charge, until one morning a Spanish galleon sailed into the main bay and forcefully took over the island.
The sailors decimated the food stores, stole anything sellable, ravished the women and imprisoned the natives. They renamed the island Madonna Island and destroyed the native culture within a few weeks.
But that was not why Jay had such a tragic picture on her office wall, but because of what followed hundreds of years later!
Time travel machines were first invented in the 2200’s by eager scientists, who began to travel back in time to study history and research certain civilizations. Then the more daring scientists began to travel into the future to discover new inventions, health cures and more.
