Life Support
Earth is the only known planet in the universe that harbors life. Its unique combination of atmosphere, temperature, water, and other factors make it suitable for a diverse array of life forms to thrive.
––––––––
Blue Planet
Earth is often referred to as the Blue Planet
because of its abundant water, which covers about 71% of its surface. From space, Earth appears predominantly blue due to the reflection of sunlight off its oceans and atmosphere.
Only Planet with Plate Tectonics
Earth is the only known planet in the solar system with active plate tectonics. The outer shell of the Earth, known as the lithosphere, is divided into several large plates that constantly move and interact with each other, leading to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and the formation of mountain ranges.
Water World
Earth is sometimes called the Water Planet
because it has vast oceans covering approximately 71% of its surface. These oceans play a crucial role in regulating the planet's climate, absorbing and redistributing heat around the globe, and providing habitat for a diverse array of marine life.
