Part 1: Gifts and Curses

I woke beneath silk sheets, yawned and stretched.

Mmmmmm, I mumbled, licking my lips.

My sleep had been dreamless and deep. I had bid farewell to Aphrodite, dried off from the bath, and made my way to the sleeping chambers she had made for me. I was so exhausted that I can’t remember what I ate or drank, but it filled me with a soothing warmth and soon I had fallen asleep.
