    BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

Babe Ruth, born George Herman Ruth Jr. on February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland, was an American professional baseball player who went on to become one of the most iconic and legendary figures in the history of the sport. His impact on the game transcended generations, and his larger-than-life personality made him a cultural phenomenon beyond the confines of the baseball diamond.

Growing up in a working-class family, young George Herman Ruth Jr. faced numerous challenges early in life. His parents, George Sr. and Kate, struggled to make ends meet, and Ruth spent much of his youth in an environment that exposed him to the rougher aspects of city life. At the tender age of seven, his parents made the difficult decision to place him in the St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, an institution run by the Catholic Church. This move would ultimately shape Ruth's future in more ways than one.

It was at St. Mary's that Ruth first developed his passion for baseball. Brother Matthias, the school's disciplinarian and a skilled baseball coach, recognized the young boy's raw talent and began mentoring him in the sport. Under Brother Matthias's guidance, Ruth honed his skills, transforming from a troubled youth into a disciplined and focused athlete. It was during these formative years that Ruth's prodigious talent as a baseball player began to emerge, drawing attention from local scouts and professional teams.

In 1914, at the age of 19, Ruth was signed by the Baltimore Orioles, a minor league team. His exceptional performance on the mound as a left-handed pitcher quickly caught the eye of the Boston Red Sox, who acquired him in a trade the following year. Ruth's impact was immediate, helping the Red Sox secure three World Series championships in 1915, 1916, and 1918. However, it was his versatility on the field and his powerful bat that set him apart from his peers.

Despite his success as a pitcher, Babe Ruth's true calling seemed to be as a hitter. In a historic move, the Red Sox transitioned Ruth to the outfield to maximize his offensive contributions. The 1919 season marked a turning point in Ruth's career when he was traded to the New York Yankees, a move that would forever alter the course of baseball history. The Red Sox, plagued by financial difficulties, sold Ruth to the Yankees for a then-record sum of $100,000.

It was with the Yankees that Ruth's star truly ascended to new heights. The Sultan of Swat became the face of a franchise that was on the brink of a transformative era. Ruth's prodigious power and charismatic personality revitalized the game of baseball and captured the imagination of fans across the nation. In his first season with the Yankees in 1920, Ruth shattered his own single-season home run record, launching an astounding 54 homers.

Over the course of his illustrious career, Babe Ruth rewrote the record
