About this ebook

AN EARTH WOMAN / MERMAN ROMANCE.

Eighteen-year-old Mariam El-Kashef is about to get married to a man ten years older than her own father. There is nothing she can do about it. Her father owes the man more money than he can repay.

In a last ditch effort, she goes to Sunny Sands Beach with a large mirror in the hope of transporting herself into an alternate universe as she'd once dreamed she had done as a child.

Merman Lucius Archer's life feels as though it's spinning out of control. He never imagined that he and his identical twin Lucas would ever live separate lives: one on MerLand and the other on Earth.

Like all merman twins, they had hoped to share one Intended mate, but the Fates have decided against it. Lucas has found his mate on Earth; if Lucius doesn't find his too, he will have no choice but to return to MerLand.

They have grown up so incredibly close, that would feel like losing an arm.

Then Lucius finds Mariam, his Intended, less than a week before she marries a man she has no desire to wed.

He will do whatever it takes to get her out of the sticky situation, but is either of them prepared for the repercussions of messing with a man dangerous enough to kill?

    DESCRIPTION

    AN EARTH WOMAN/MERMAN ROMANCE.

Eighteen-year-old Mariam El-Kashef is about to get married to a man ten years older than her own father.  There is nothing she can do about it.  Her father owes the man more money than he can repay.

In a last ditch effort, she goes to Sunny Sands Beach with a large mirror in the hope of transporting herself into an alternate universe as she’d once dreamed she had done as a child.

Merman Lucius Archer’s life feels as though it’s spinning out of control.  He never imagined that he and his identical twin Lucas would ever live separate lives: one on MerLand and the other on Earth.

Like all merman twins, they had hoped to share one Intended mate, but the Fates have decided against it.  Lucas has found his mate on Earth; if Lucius doesn’t find his too, he will have no choice but to return to MerLand.

    PROLOGUE

Lucius Archer had never expected to feel this lonely without his identical twin Lucas.

Six years ago, the two of them as young men approaching the physical prime of their lives had been sent to live on Earth to provide protection for the then King’s eldest son Seth, heir apparent to the Kingdom of MerLand.

After Seth had been killed in a fight with eight Earth men, they had been tasked with staying on indefinitely to guard his first cousin Rufus, who had been 4th in the line of succession at the time, and 6th when he was executed for treachery almost two weeks ago.

Strangely, in all the years they had spent on Earth, neither of them had imagined finding their Intended on the planet.  As young men on MerLand, they had focussed on their training as defenders of the Kingdom, but they’d also had fun with the opposite sex as all young MerPeople do.  They hadn’t yet reached their physical prime which usually started for mermen at around the age of twenty-five.  They had assumed once they returned to the Kingdom as more mature men that they would find their Intended mates there.

With no members of MerLand Royalty left on Earth to guard, they had both planned to return to MerLand permanently.

Then twelve days ago, Lucas had met Angela Braithwaite on what would have been the last duty they had planned to perform on Earth: ensuring safe passage to MerLand for the King’s brother Jacob and his Earth woman Erin Murphy.

Lucas had immediately changed his plans and had decided to remain on Earth for an indefinite period.

Reluctant to leave his twin behind, Lucius had stayed also but he knew that he had to leave soon.  Now that his duties on Earth were complete, he would join the army of mermen who patrolled the perimeters of the Kingdom and protected it from invaders.

It wouldn’t be easy to leave his brother at the mercy of Earth men.  Most of them had egos bigger than their heads and started fights without provocation.

His brother could more than adequately take care of himself.  With his broad shoulders and large biceps, he had phenomenal power and could easily take on a dozen of them.  But they didn’t always fight fair.  His brother’s strength would be nothing against a bullet.

Any merman who chose to live on Earth was provided with the means by the King to live comfortably.  There were mermen and mermaids in strategic positions on the planet who aided them in obtaining identity cards or passports and opening bank accounts.  If they choose to return permanently to MerLand, there were computer wizards like Jude Baker, who systematically erased all traces of them from official records in order for their unexpected departures not to raise suspicions.

If Lucas stayed on Earth, he and Angela would live comfortably.  The King had already given his permission for them to reside at the eight-bedroom house in Chelsea that had been originally purchased for his older brother’s comfort while on Earth.

The twins each currently had in excess of half a million pounds in their savings accounts.  If Lucius went back to MerLand while his twin stayed on Earth, he would transfer the balance of his bank account to Lucas’s.  He would have no use for the money on MerLand.

Lucius couldn’t imagine not seeing his twin every day as he had all his life.

But oddly, in the last few days he had been getting strong signals that his Intended mate was also living on Earth.  He had wondered if it was just wishful thinking, but this morning he’d been given a definite sign that he needed to be at Folkestone’s Sunny Sands Beach
