About this ebook

Jesus dearly loved children.  Jesus had lambs. Jesus had babes.  He deeply loved them as part of his precious flock. However, the picture we see today is so different. Children come to church but are either found sitting in a corner playing video games on mummy's phone or, paying hide and seek in the church, instead of praying.  The children in the church today urgently need their own UPPER ROOM experiences.  Each generation needs its personal introduction to the Holy Spirit and we need to be deliberate about it. A truly special book written by a special author with a genuine heart for children.

Children in the Ministry of Jesus

While Jesus ministered on earth, He often had children around Him. Children played a role in His ministry.

Children have a way of becoming invisible in large gatherings. They are tucked in a corner, when there is a family reunion. At the party, they are served their food on a table hidden in the corner. I have seen wedding invitation cards which let you know that your children are not welcome.

Jesus dearly loved children. In one of His last conversations with Peter, He gave the specific instruction that the lambs should be fed. This was in the discussion where Jesus asked whether Peter loved Him. When Peter responded that he did, Jesus asked Peter to feed His lambs. Was it by accident that this unique answer came after Jesus asked Peter the first time?

So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, FEED MY LAMBS.

    John 21:15

At the second and third asking, Jesus’ reply to Peter was Feed my sheep.

He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, FEED MY SHEEP.

    John 21:16

Jesus referred to the children as His lambs. Jesus loved His lambs. Jesus wanted His lambs to be fed.

As Jesus prayed one day, He said that the things He had taught had been hidden from the wise and prudent. He went on to thank the Father that they had been revealed to babes.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

    Matthew 11:25

Jesus had lambs. Jesus had babes. He didn’t think of them as unimportant. He deeply loved them as part of His precious flock. We need to be like Jesus. We need to have the heart Jesus had for children and young people.

There are a number of accounts told by people who went to heaven. They talk about how common it is to find Jesus in the midst of the very young ones. Jesus is comfortable around children.

I recently heard a very famous gospel musician share his testimony. He spoke of how at the age of four, he fell from the fourth floor of their apartment building. Everyone thought he would die, but miraculously, he survived. When leaving the hospital after being there for three days, he told his parents how he never actually hit the ground. A big hand caught me before I touched the floor.

He couldn’t see the face of the person who caught him but could hear his voice. The person asked him, Do you want to go with Me, or do you want to go with your mummy?.

Of course, at that age, he opted to go with his mother. He then asked the voice that spoke to him, Who are you?

My name is Jesus, the voice said!

4 Times Children Were Found Around Jesus

    1. There were children when Jesus fed the Five Thousand

When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him, THERE IS A
