    CHAPTER 1

    Sleeping Dragon

2017, in Beijing China, the Chinese Politburo Standing Committee had a secret meeting to discuss, amongst other things, China’s rapidly rising Population growth. Despite efforts to have an effective Birth control method, China’s population will be 1,500,000,000 by 2020 and rapidly increasing. There was much discussion on what to do about the rapidly burgeoning population. Several countries, including Australia and New Zealand, came up in conversations to solve their overpopulation. Australia has so much vacant land that could be made arable with intensive methods that China has at its disposal. The Decision they came to, was that China would take over Australia using Force when the Time was right.

Strategies had to be decided by the Planning Committee, such as initially buying up land, Airports, and Harbours across Australia in readiness for Operation Koala. The Chinese realised that there must be an element of luck in having all their ducks lined up in a row in a takeover of Australia. But they would start with legal land purchases. They purchased Darwin’s Port and an Airfield in North-Western Australia. Large Cattle Stations and large Industrial complexes were all acquired legally.

The Politburo agreed that Cairns in Far North Queensland would be the initial target; Darwin was closer but was under Tindal Air Base’s protection: this was a combined Australian, and U.S. Airforce Base. General Zhao Yaning would take charge of the first attack wave, consisting of the four-thousand-man Oriental Sword and Arrow People’s Liberation Army Special Operations Force. They would assemble at the new Military Base at Dara Sakar in Cambodia and train there for the upcoming Invasion. A contingent of six Type 052C stealth Destroyers and a Ballistic Missile Qing class Submarine sailed for the Ream Naval Base adjacent to Darar Sakar.

The Secret Plan to attack the Royal Australian Naval Patrol Boat Base in Cairns, the local Police stations, and International Airport was then carefully planned. The attack would depend on disrupting Communications in Cairns from the outside world, so that the attack comes as a complete surprise. America would come to Australia’s aid, so the plan would be actioned when America and Australia were otherwise distracted.

The first stage of the plan was for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to buy up businesses and property in Australia, especially in Cairns, Using Companies registered in numerous Foreign Countries, which would make it difficult to trace their Chinese connections. Oriental Sword, and Arrow Officers would travel to Cairns in small tour groups to visit their intended targets. And spy out the lay of the land. Like all good tourists, many photos taken were of tourist sites, including military sites, Police, and other intended targets. A number of Agents failed to return with the Tour Groups as they went underground with the Cairns Chinese Community loyal to the Chinese Communist Party.

A secret Chinese Intelligence Division that had completed a top-secret project swung into action back in China. They aimed to install miniature video and audio devices into LCD and Plasma Television screens. These devices are integrated into the centre of the screens during manufacturing. And operated if the T.V. was turned on or not. The devices charged themselves while the T.V. was in operation and ran on their battery while the T.V. was in off mode. Not all T.V.’s had these screens; the T.V.’s with the Special screens had a 6 as the first or last digit in the ten-digit Serial number. From 2017, all the Televisions bound for Cairns and Far North Queensland were the 6 Chinese special-screen ones.

When the televisions were sold individually or in bulk Lots, to Government Departments, or Local Government Entities, the serial numbers noted on the Warranty documents went back to the Manufacturers in Shenzhen, China. The Secret Chinese Intelligence Division then compiled a coded 6 Television list of the Televisions housed in the Targets of Interest to the Chinese Military in and around Cairns. A unique issue Huawei K 30 mobile phone with a special electronic chip was standard issue to all Officers in the Invasion Force. Once the Special phones had logged into the Appropriate App and the ten-digit serial number of the target television was entered, the operator could watch and listen to live action at that venue. The T.V. devices also had a memory function accessed by Huawei phones. These unique Televisions were everywhere in Cairns, in Government, houses, and businesses.

One such Tourist to visit Cairns was Captain Li Jun of Special Operations Force Oriental Sword. Captain Li was from Sichuan Province in southern China. He had impressed his tutors with his Military skills when he attended Shishi High School, thus ensuring Captain Li was enrolled in the Military when he completed his Education. Captain Li was an ideal student. He was athletic, a black belt in Martial Arts, and his promotions came swiftly; by age 26, he was already a Captain in the Elite Force Oriental Sword. Captain Li had been posted to Darar Sakar to join with three thousand other Oriental Sword and Arrow troops who could speak English. The Force was airlifted to Guangzhou in Guangdong Province for intensive training in Cairns, Australia.

Large Hangers held Streetscape photos of Cairns, plus ariel photos of the city. Mock-ups of the Naval Patrol Boat Base and Central Police Station allowed troops to practice attacking and holding these buildings. Australian English teachers taught the Troops the vagaries of Australian English. Captain Li thought he knew English well but soon learned he knew no Australian slang. The classes of troops had to do a test on Australia Slang sayings after the first week of their Australian language training. Captain Li had learned that a man’s penis was also called a Prick in Australian slang. Captain Li then deduced the saying, You dumb Prick! translated to Your penis can’t talk. When the teacher explained that dumb means couldn’t talk, in Australian slang, it also means dopey or stupid. The teacher called Captain Li a Dickhead, and then asked him what it meant. Captain Li made the mistake of translating to Mandarin and then back to English. The teacher told him he must learn the sayings by heart; he could not convert to Mandarin and then back to English. The teacher explained to Captain Li that being called a Dickhead meant you were a Dill. Captain Li thought he would never understand Australian Slang, but he eventually started getting its gist with intensive swatting-up.

Captain Li and his fellow officers always spoke Aussie English to each other, and then after months of training, his turn for the practical training came around. He and eleven others dressed in civilian clothes flew to Beijing to join some tour groups operating into Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. In the three Tour groups on Captain Li’s flight, there were four Chinese Military Spies in each group. The tour group leader was also a Chinese Government official, but the other Chinese civilians were legitimate tourists who had no idea they were Military Spies. The North China Airlines flight arrived in Cairns on schedule, with Captain Li and the rest of the Tour group checking in to the Ridges Esplanade Hotel.

The Tour Group had the rest of the day to settle in; the Tours to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree would begin the following day. Captain Li shared a room with another Officer in the Oriental Sword Force, Zhang Yong. They dressed in their best outrageously over-the-top Tropical shorts and shirts and wandered along the Esplanade. They headed south and checked out a Chinese Restaurant that was supposed to be owned by an Australian-born Chinese man. His name was on a list given to Captain Li before they had left China. We will visit him tomorrow. Captain Li told Captain Zhang Yong.

The next day they were up early and went for a run along the Esplanade before returning for a shower before Breakfast. They assembled out the front of the hotel to catch the bus hired to transport the Tour Group to the Wharf. They boarded the Tourist Catamaran for the trip to Green Island, where they would spend the day snorkelling the Great Barrier reef or relaxing on the beach. Captain Li was impatient to get down to why he was in Cairns. But he did admit that he enjoyed the relaxing day on the tropical island. The colourful fish were so tame that they would swim up to the snorkellers without fear.

Captain Li had known his roommate Captain Zhang for many years, and though they were not good friends, Captain Li knew he could trust Captain Zhang. They were brothers in the Oriental Sword Brotherhood. After dinner, Captain Li and Captain Zhang went through the Intelligence report on the Kee Kong Chinese Restaurant owner they had seen on their morning walk. The owner was Mr. Gavin Ling, born in Brisbane, so he probably couldn’t be relied on to help the Chinese Government in their plans to Invade Australia. However, he did have Uncles and Aunts who still lived in China, and his wife was born in China. She had fled to Australia during the Hawke Labor Government’s Time and was granted Asylum after the Tiananmen Square Protests. They agreed they would have some leverage when meeting with the owner tomorrow.

A knock on their hotel room door had them wondering who it might be. Captain Li answered the door to find a distinguished Chinese Gentleman trying to look like a Tourist. Li immediately realised this person was Important, and bowed profoundly and invited him into the room. Captain Zhang also bowed deeply as the visitor introduced himself as a Cultural Attaché from the Chinese Embassy in Canberra. He told them his name was Ambassador Wong as he sat at the coffee table and opened the small briefcase he had with him. From his carry case, the Ambassador produced two tourist-Koala kitch shoulder bags. Captain Li looked at Captain Zhang with a worried look and saw he also had a quizzical look. Sir, with respect, aren’t these bags a little over the top for men of my age group to wear? Ambassador Wong took one of the bags and zipped open a hidden compartment to produce a QSZ-92 Automatic Military Issue handgun. The Ambassador replied with a wide grin, It is what the Australians would call a Koala with a gun stuck up its Arse. He was trying to sound as much like an Australian as possible but needed to hit the r’s. The Ambassador explained that he would stay in Cairns and collect the firearms before the Soldiers returned to China.

Captain Li had tested out ‘his Huawei phone after noticing the television in their room had a serial number ending in 6. After typing in the code and the serial number, he could see everything in his hotel room on his Military Huawei. When Ambassador Wong asked to speak to Zhang alone, Captain Li left the two in the room and went to the foyer to watch them on his phone, talking back in the room. The Ambassador reminded Zhang of his Mission and told him that he would have to write a report on Captain Li when he returned to Base. Captain Zhang advised Captain Li that Ambassador Wong would like to see him. Captain Li told Zhang to watch his interview for his information. Captain Zhang smiled at Captain Li knowingly as the Ambassador shook hands and left them.

When they returned to their hotel room, the two Captains decided to check out their first target on their Huawei phones. They found the serial number of the Kee Kong Chinese Restaurant in the directory they had brought with them and logged in. Immediately they could see the interior of the Office of the Kee Kong Restaurant. The owner Gavin Ling was asking his secretary when an order of chicken would arrive. He sounded like an Australian, and Captain Li had trouble understanding his accent. He looked at Zhang and shook his head. Be good if this Phone App had subtitles, Captain Li joked. Let’s go and have something to eat there; maybe he can speak Mandarin. Captain Zhang replied.

The two Chinese Special Forces Soldiers dressed in slacks and polo shirts walked into the Kee Kong Chinese Restaurant as the sun set. Celia, the Asian-looking lady at the reception, smiled at the two fit-looking Asian men, G’ day, do you have a reservation? She asked them in her thick Australian accent. No! Captain Li said in Mandarin. "Hang on, I may look Chinese, but I am born and bred in Cairns
